Within his feature, Thug talks about his love for music but admits it’s time sensitive for him.

“I don’t want to be 50 years old and rapping, man. I’m pretty sure nobody wants to do that. I’m pretty sure Jay Z don’t wanna rap right now,” Thug says. “If you’re 30, 40 years old, you’re not getting listened to by minors. Like, Jay Z has some of the sickest lyrics ever, but I would never buy his CD, just because of my age and because of his age. By the time I turn that old, I ain’t gonna be doing what he’s doing.” (GQ)

Check out what else Young Thug says right here…

Thug also dishes on how he sees his career shaping.

“I hope to be like Bill Gates, bro. With all the money in the world. Like [Lil] Wayne, someday I want one of those kind of careers. Or Michael Jackson.” (GQ)

Last September, Cash Money Records head Birdman talked about his relationship with Thug.

“I met Thug, flew him to L.A. to come see me and we connected from there, then Quan came to the table. I always believed in unity, that’s always been my thing. They were already working on a project, them two, and I said, ‘Let’s do it together. Let me take it to the next level for y’all, ’cause I see y’all got the potential and the talent.'” (MTV)

Last year, Young Thug dished out his respect for Young Money leader Lil Wayne and called Birdman a father figure.

“Wayne, Wayne and Wayne. The fact that the n*gga got 100 M’s and he still rap everyday, it’s amazing,” Thug said in an interview. “Rich Gang to the death. Big shout out to [Gucci Mane]. He was a big help to my career. But, I’m with Rich Gang and that’s how we gone turn it up… [Cash Money’s Baby] is like a real father figure.” (The FADER)

    • extremely good point….and he not only rocking with birdman he doing shows and rocking his chain….how much is young getting for this rich gang promo…but he just a kid so he get a pass

        • i consider him a kid….age dont mean your grown….he has been on earth for 22 years but going off of things he raps about i look at him like he is 15….the lifestyle and things that matter might dont matter when you get to grow in mind and thought. 30 and 22 not that big but 30 year old thinking should be different than 15.. isay fifteen not to disrespect him but to point out there is a severe lack of growth in his shown on screen persona and reality….

          • Actually I appreciate his honesty as far as foresight in his career going forward. Hopefully he can get past being aww struck being around Birdman and Slim and peep out their boardroom game for future endeavors…I think I better end that with a…Pause!!!…lol.

          • ok LOL didnt look at that part….it does take some thinking to plain for the future….see thats why im always open to other thoughts….Bless

          • Honesty isn’t always correct, homie. He actually thinks he has longevity. Don’t forget that Soulja Boy was hotter than him a few years ago and sold WAAAAY more records. And he is where now?

          • thats not all the way true cause while sb does not make great raps he makes decent beats and kanye work with him so he is not a 100% finish

        • CEO dont mean wise you can know how to make a million five times a day but it means nothing if you loose 6 million a day…no disrespect to your or the thought just building bruh!!!

        • yeah hes 22 but society still looks at 22 year olds as a kid. Hell im 27 and the youngest person at my job and allll of the older people call me kid.

      • Nah, pimp juice, he does NOT get a pass for that ignorant comment. Someone else made a point. All the so-called old rappers are the ones making steady money. These new cats come in, make quick money and disappear. Soulja Boy, Chief Keef, etc. This year the Migos are considered the hot thing, how long do you think that will last? Remember when niggas thought Crime Mobb was hot? When the group that made chicken noodle soup had the hottest dance craze. Gimmicks come and go. Future was on a LOT of racords last year. Let’s see what he does this year.

        • I say kid cause he new and if one were to judge by his comments he’s not very smart….but i give the pass because he young… rocking with bird for him seems smart bird brought us wayne….so i get that what i dont get is that busta deal…now thats stupid you grown and your brand bigger so big years ago busta was their go to ny voice for the remix and he water down his worth by signing with him…he did more features that got burn before he signed then when he signed….i like that perspective though your not wrong at all….I think we won can you see crime mobb still doing it matter fact remember trillville sum cut…we had some horrible songs back then thats why i give him a pass as a artist

  1. i get what he is saying but i think that thought stems from people that are not true music lovers….Good music is just good music….it hurts the brand him saying that….rock and pop all sing / perform questionable message’s but because its looked at with the thought that its art the music never dies…A change in content could mean more years

      • i’m open to all thoughts i dont have to believe them to understand or entertain the thought…..I say i get him cause i love music and i see cats like g-unit get no burn on radio…Younings determine a lot. its easier to get a young cat to listen to meek than snoop…and also because are easier to trick….ross would have never been

        • Well I guess that is the difference because I am not open to all thoughts unless the people are brainstorming and trying to come up with ideas. Other then that thoughts are only what they are.

          • “Thoughts are only what they are” not bad and because im willing to give your thought a chance i get that gem that forces me to think..anything that makes me think and ponder i like and enjoy so thanks for sharing

  2. Those minors don’t buy CD’s though that is the problem. J Cole did crazy numbers this clown hasn’t even dropped nothing yet and is talking like that? Jay-z is a multi faceted businessman if he drops an album it is not because he has to it is because he wants to. Baby is like a fatherfigure? That is the problem they are all looking for somebody else to look up to. Now young thug claimin Bloods but when he said something out of line some blue ragz got on his ass and then he started soundin like a str8 lame.

  3. “Jay z don’t wanna rap now”, but nigga you CANT rap EVER!!! Fahhhck you mean? “I don’t wanna be 50 years old rapping”, trust me, nigga you won’t!!!! You won’t be rapping by 30 nigga. Probably earlier than that.

  4. Thats the problem with a lot of these younger rappers. theyre aiming for only the young audience. The problem with that is the young audience grows up. Look at people like Bow Wow and Omarion. Yes they were kids at the time too but their music was aimed at minors/kids back in the early 2000s. Those kids have grown up and now none of them are checking for Bow Wow or Omarion for the most part. You gotta think long term. You spend more of your life as an adult than you do a kid so the smart decision would be to aim your music towards adults so that you can last longer and not just be hot for 4 – 5 years.

  5. So I guess Baby is 20? Most rappers that sell are near or over 30. The youngins are good for one hit and that’s it. The youngest in the game that sell is Drake. he is near 30.

  6. i would say oh hes entitled to his opinion….but Baby is his mentor/manager/partner whatever, clearly he wasnt thinking straight when he answered that question!!!! and he rapping on songs with this guy, WHY. this is why some people should refuse to do media. would love to hear his response about the popularity of lugz vs timberland, im sure it would be a hoot!!!

  7. Who gives a fk about being listened to by minors dumass? Your true fans grew up with you and arent fickle as shyt. Man this short about to catch a flat soon….

  8. yea he aint gonna be rappin at 30.. he gonna be Bonquisha the tranny thot by then. black bruce jenner status

  9. what a clown,,this is what sippn on sizzurp and a couple dollars does,,this fool basically said he don’t wanna learn or grow but he wants to be bill gates?,,haha,,keep wearing dresses and painting your nails,,,calling dudes your “lover” and rapping nonsensic bullsh*t with a dude jiggas age,,you will get there young dummy!

  10. Tyical young man answer and Im 26 btw.,, How many rappers who were in there prime while in their twenties and said this? Wayne, Eminem, etc?!?!… Some people’s perception of age is off.. Shoot I know people in their forties who just started college… People with this attitude equate old age with pain and what ” you should be doing at what age” when in reality that isnt true

  11. Dude doesn’t understand that Jay doesn’t have to rap ….. he does it because he wants to …….
Should of asked him about his future plans ……. probably would have just got a blank stare ……..

  12. This is the most ignorant sh*t ive heard in a long time. Only Black, (excuse me, Nigg*s), put limitations on themselves and their culture. Madonna can Rock out at 60 and wrinkled, Rolling stones are halfway dead and on stage. U2 are damn near 75 years old. But a hip hop artist has to stop his craft and poetry because he 40 years old???? GTFOH fast!!! Some crab in the bucket blacks have no brains. I guarantee you Jay-Z last album will do twice the numbers Young Thud non-legible ass will do!!!

  13. Who deciphered what he was saying? Don’t that nigga speak gibberish? At 50 years old that nigga can’t see past next week?? This fool gon be a she way before 50

  14. im not a jay fan. but the game is done when a nigga from atlanta who calls niggaz bae and hubby and is basically the industrys first faggot rapper speaks on hov it irks even me a person who once again is not at all a jay-z fan. this nigga young thug a faggot he letting baby fuck him in the ass and kss him in the mouth which is why wayne is throwing his temper tantrum and suing because baby no longer showing him the affection he once did now that young thug in the picture. whole industry is gay .. cop the animal ambition album the new gunit joint beauty of indenpenace and all yo gotti and fab mixtapes is what im on right now

  15. “cuz age don’t count in the booth, When your soul stays submerged in the fountain of youth” – Rakim..
Really wish the story on Bill Gates paying him to stop “rapping” wasn’t a hoax..

  16. “…so age don’t count in the booth, When your flow stay submerged in the fountain of youth”- Rakim.. Somebody kill it before it lays eggs..

  17. That made alot of sense, you say he has some of the sickest rappers ever but you won’t buy his album because of his age and your age? I didn’t know younger people didn’t listen to Jay Z? I know people under 21 who listen to him and buy his album, this dude makes no sense at all with that statement. If the album is sick and the raps are sick why not buy it? Music is music right?

  18. What an idiot! Lol and this comes from a guy who literally wears dresses! What a fucking idiot!

  19. I disagree about Jay not wanting to rap anymore. It’s not like he’s doing it for the money. He can retire and just tour. He raps because he wants to imo.

  20. So much ignorance in one comment. First, Jay-Z’s career was soaring in his 30s. Second, how is age a factor when you love what you do? Third, minors my nigga? You’re proud to rap ignorant shit to minors? This nigga career bout done anyway
