Thug x Pusha

On Tuesday, Thugger went to his Instagram Story to distance himself and fellow collaborator Gunna from the Pusha/Drake drama. Thug also said he didn’t realize at the time T used the song to intensify his feud.

“I don’t respect the Pusha T verse on the song with me and Gunna cause I don’t have nun to do with y’all beef nor does Gunna, and if I knew that was about him I would’ve made changes on our behalf. This rapper sh*t so gay.” -Young Thug’s Instagram Story

High-Key Details

The new record comes off a collaboration with late rapper Pop Smoke. Pusha uses his verse to flame Drake and reference a past 2018 incident during a Toronto concert.

“You know reality bites/It’s chess not checkers/Those empty threats only sound good on your records/If the patois is not followed by blocka/It’s like marked for death Screwface, without the choppa/Let ‘em rush the stage when you made like Sinatra,” Pusha begins, potentially referencing Drake’s use of the dialect and a 2018 incident when several men rushed the stage during Pusha’s Daytona Tour show in Toronto. Adding, “Only to find the blade, flyin’ back through LaGuardia/I might even buy a home out in Mississauga,” in a clear reference to a city near Drake’s hometown of Toronto. (HYPEBEAST)

Wait, There’s More

Last year, Pusha reflected on dropping his “Infrared” diss record in May 2018 and targeting the rap superstar.

“It was always going to be, always going to happen. I was always going to get off. “Infrared” had to happen. We were doing the back-and-forth. He had “Two birds, one stone.” This is what rap is. He is… it is a machine in dealing with him. So we deal. But I had to do things at my own time. You can’t just jump out there. We’ve seen how that works when you just treat it like a street battle. It’s really not. You have to play chess. … Yes. It had to happen on my time. Not anybody else’s.” (Variety)

Before You Go

T also admitted he didn’t think the rap exchange would end so abruptly.

“I was in it for the long haul … for hip-hop. I thought this was going to be a running thing, back-and-forth. I was sure he’d have a rebuttal. I did what I wanted to do. I only deal in truth, how I see things. When you’re dealing with words, it’s a way of dealing with truth and how the pubic process that, how they interpret that. And what touches them and what touches the person you’re going against. I actually thought we were going to keep on.” (Variety)
