Rap newcomer Young M.A is getting love the Brooklyn way. The hip-hop rookie has linked up with New York rap royalty.
Last night, Young M.A treated fans to pics of herself alongside vets Fabolous and Lil’ Kim.
Young M.A is slated to invade the upcoming Hot 97 Summer Jam festival stage.
A few weeks ago, rap veteran Talib Kweli talked to SOHH about hip-hop newcomers like Young M.A and Dave East.
“I travel and tour too much to really be up on the newest latest out of Brooklyn. Joey [Bada$$] is easing into a comfortable role as ambassador of hip-hop culture between generations, while not losing his edge. Young M.A has just one song, she has work to do. I’m excited about Dave East, just waiting on the defining project from him.” (SOHH)
Recently, M.A downplayed the urge to sign a major record deal.
“The good thing about having a hit record is you don’t need too many people,” explained the Brooklyn-born rhymer, who is about to embark on tour with rapper 21 Savage. “Because now your record is on fire and I already have a great team around me so why run to the labels? You can just use this right now. It’s going to be a little extra work, but it’s worth it in the end.” Take note: Her ambition is not limited to music. “I do want to get more involved with clothing, TV shows, movies,” M.A said. “You’re going to see a whole bunch of talents in me.” (Forbes)
