Marvel Studios’ Black Panther has some serious Southern roots. New reports claim the upcoming must-see movie helped generate over $80 million for Georgia’s economy.

According to MPAA Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin, the studio’s decision to primarily film Black Panther in the Peach State helped generate $83.9 million.

“Tonight, we are here to celebrate the talented individuals and vendors who help make Georgia the third largest production center in the nation, and who help bring to life stories, like Black Panther, that make a difference,” said Rivkin. “Black Panther has smashed records for advance ticket sales thanks to the hard work of local crew and vendors, and because the film reflects the breadth and diversity of our global communities.” Black Panther is not the only Marvel Studios movie shot in the Southern state. Many other MCU titles including Spider-Man: Homecoming and the forthcoming Avengers: Infinity War found a home in Georgia. (Deadline)

This week, rap star Kendrick Lamar and his Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate SZA released their “All The Stars” Black Panther The Album music video.

A huge component for the upcoming flick’s massive popularity is how much social media attention it has received.

All three key movie feeds for Black Panther, on Facebook, Twitter and especially on Instagram popped by 10x on Tuesday from the premiere adding 25K new fans on the day, up from 2K a day. Chadwick Boseman’s Instagram spiked, adding 26,7K new fans yesterday as well. Views on YouTube are spread across owned and earned clocking over 6M views over 48-hours. Compared to other Marvel titles, Black Panther, as a first in a franchise, is tracking ahead of the Social Media Universe of other Marvel sequel openers with a 741 million SMU versus Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (607M SMU), Captain America: Civil War (599M SMU) and Thor: Ragnarok (560M SMU) when they opened. Last week, “Insecure” star Issa Rae shared an epic reaction to seeing Black Panther at its world premiere.

“Ohhh! Black Panther, Black Panther, Black Panther, Black Panther – I’m pregnant. The movie impregnated me. Chad Boseman could get it. Michael B. Jordan is the best villain I have ever seen in my life. He could also get it. F*ck me up. … And you know what else? I love Blank Man. I love Meteor Man. But even those movies treated our heros like a joke and Black Panther didn’t play that. It was just black excellence. Black heros. Black women – all I know is I’m inspired and every other creator I saw tonight was also inspired. So I can’t wait to see what this sh*t spawns. I can’t wait to spawn some sh*t. Ryan Coogler. Incredible cast. Incredible producer.”
