New York rapper Bobby Shmurda can make all of his legal woes vanish into thin air if he reportedly agrees to an eight-year prison sentence.

According to reports, prosecutors suggested the hefty bid deal during a court hearing Thursday (June 25).

The rapper dressed in an orange jumpsuit did not speak speak or acknowledge his family members or Epic Records executives (including label president, Sylvia Rhone) in attendance. Prosecutors reminded the defense that Bobby has a standing offer of an eight-year sentence for his role as the “mastermind” behind the GS9 collective that combined are facing over 100 charges of assault, murder and more. According to reports, Shmurda must remain behind bars until his trial starts in October.

Bobby Shmurda appeared in court today for the first time since late April as Judge James Burke set his multiple-charge conspiracy trial to begin Oct. 5. But during today’s hearing, the prosecution noted that Shmurda, aka Acquille Pollard, had been re-arrested this week on a charge unrelated to the case. According to the prosecution, Shmurda was arrested Tuesday, June 23 after he received a “sharpened metal instrument” on June 21. The charge will not be included in the indictment that he will face in October. (XXL Mag)

Shmurda recently argued politics were playing a large part in his current predicament.

“I’m innocent,” Ackquille Pollard says. His orange jumpsuit stands out from the gray walls of the Manhattan Detention Complex, his smile bright and white and flawless as ever. “I’ll explain it to all of them. I’m just a young black kid coming from a nasty neighborhood. I made it out, and a lot of people don’t want to see that.” (Vulture)

G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks talked to SOHH about Shmurda’s situation earlier this year.

“I think that them coming in with that raw energy, you got to be on the same radar regardless. You are young, black and not supposed to be here. I was fortunate enough to get out of it, I didn’t sit too long any time I was locked up. But at the same time, it’s not nothing really to talk highly about. I just hope that they can get through that situation okay.” (SOHH)

  1. His career is over if he takes the 8 years. But if he loose in trial they might give him 20 years. Somebody in snitching on him from his crew most likely.
