West Coast rapper YG is done-done with Nicki Minaj. The hip-hop heavyweight has vowed to never work with the self-proclaimed Barbie ever again because of her affiliation with his publicized rap foe Tekashi 6ix9ine.

YG x Nicki

Heading into Friday, YG appeared on a radio show to speak on his current stance toward Nicki. Without going into full details, the Bompton native said his street code wouldn’t allow him to associate with Minaj since she worked with 6ix9ine after he went on house arrest following his cooperation with federal prosecutors.

During an interview with Los Angeles’ Real 92.3 on Thursday, YG was asked how he felt about Minaj’s recent track with the controversial rainbow-haired rapper and if he would want to work with her again. “I don’t know, my feelings was hurt,” he said after shaking his head to the question. “I’m a real street n–a,” he added, “Yeah, I’m cool.” (Yahoo! High-Key Details

6ix9ine has since responded to YG’s comments. The reaction is also months removed from the California rapper trolling Tekashi at a 2019 concert.

The Compton born street rapper has made it clear in the past that he does not support 6ix9ine. Last year, YG performed his song “Stop Snitching” at Coachella in front of a mugshot of the rapper, following 6ix9ine’s arrest and reports that he was cooperating with prosecutors in exchange for a reduced sentence. 6ix9ine seems to be unbothered by YG’s comments after he responded to a clip of the conversation that was shared on The Shade Room’s Instagram account, writing, “Smh Damn Nicki u done messed up big time.” (Variety)

Wait, There’s More

In June 2020, Nicki Minaj went to her Instagram Live with Tekashi to address people coming at her with snitch labels. While she said her husband is from the streets and didn’t deal with snitches, she said it’s different for people in the music biz.

“My husband doesn’t mess with the snitch culture. My husband is like, ‘No, I just can’t f*ck with that,’ – he’s lived a different life. But y’all want to make it rap one minute and street the next minute. Y’all want to talk about people not writing their raps one minute and then do songs with people that don’t write raps the next minute. But if somebody talks about the integrity of hip-hop, then it’s a problem. But y’all can talk about the integrity of the streets and not snitching, well we not on the block. None of you n*ggas are on the block. If these n*ggas are still out there doing what they’re doing and banging – I have to respect it, we all have to respect it, because they play by a different code and not everybody can speak on that.” Nicki Minaj’s Instagram Live

Before You Go

Back in 2018, Nicki and YG both collaborated on their unforgettable “Big Bank” anthem. Their music video has nearly 200,000 YouTube views.
