Major search engine Yahoo! is catching massive backlash at the start of 2017. The network’s Yahoo! Finance Twitter account is getting roasted after dropping the N-word in a story headline.
Yahoo! played itself early Friday (January 6) after accidentally misspelling the word “bigger.”
The official Yahoo Finance account says it accidentally tweeted out the N-word when sharing a story about the cost of President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to increase the size of the U.S. Navy. The headline for the story was supposed to read, ‘Trump Wants a Much Bigger Navy: Here’s How Much It’ll Cost.’ But when it was tweeted, a typo in the word ‘bigger’ changed it to an extremely offensive racial slur. Immediately after the since-deleted Twitter post went viral, Yahoo! Finance apologized.
We deleted an earlier tweet due to a spelling error. We apologize for the mistake.
