Wiz Khalifa Rolls Out Of Weed Bust Jail Selfie Controversy W/ Small Hit

Taylor Gang leader Wiz Khalifa can breathe easy again after pleading guilty and having to pay a small fine for a now-infamous jail selfie he took last year.

According to reports, Wiz will only have to pay $500 for his jail stunt.

The Wiz Khalifa arrest that became more famous for what happened in jail — rather than what landed him there — is finally over … and he only had to pay a small fine to make it go away for good. Wiz pled guilty in El Paso to misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and agreed to pay a $500 fine. The rapper was arrested in May 2014 for trying to get half a gram of weed past TSA officials. Last summer, Khalifa revealed how he brought the camera into his jail cell.

“They’re tryna figure out how many grams I had,” he added. “How ironic.” The real irony was that he got behind bars with his cellphone. “They didn’t search me enough so I took a selfie in jail,” he told Hot 97 when asked how he was able to manage bringing his phone with him. (NY Daily News)

May 2014 reports claimed Texas police were on the prowl to find out how Khalifa pulled off a jail selfie following his arrest.

El Paso cops are investigating a breach in jailhouse security … they want to know how in the world Wiz Khalifa managed to sneak a selfie while he was in lockup. Now we’re told police brass have launched an investigation because inmates are NOT allowed to take pics in the jail with their phones. Cops want to know if Khalifa was left unsupervised or if one of the jailers was a star f-er and facilitated the pic. (TMZ)

After being held for several hours — putting his performance at Minnesota’s 2014 Soundset festival in jeopardy — the rapper was out of jail (charged with possession of .5 grams of marijuana) and boarding a private jet to get him to his set on time. (MTV)
