Khalifa announced the project’s release date to the masses this week on Twitter.

“Blacc Hollywood August 19th. #BlaccHollywood,” Khalifa tweeted June 30.

“Another classic album art. This summer should be fun.” (Wiz Khalifa’s Twitter)

Last fall, Khalifa said the album would be packed with feel-good records and ample fun for all listeners.

“The Hollywood part, of course, is like the success, the glitz, the glamour, the fun stuff and the Blacc is where we come from–not Pittsburgh the ‘hood, but Pittsburgh party, drinking at a very young age, tearing stuff up, staying up too late. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a lot of attitude. … It’s just gonna be a very fun project — I don’t have really any points to prove on this one except that I’m awesome. I’m really taking my time and picking the records out.” (Skee Live)

Back in August 2013, Khalifa revealed his son ultimately helped him realize what approach he should take with the LP.

“My son really just motivated me because I was kinda confused as to what I needed to do next and what was the best moves for me,” he admitted. “When I had him it kinda became all clear. So this album is gonna be really edgy. It’s gonna be really fun and going back to my roots, but still progressing and moving forward as well.” (MTV)

In 2012, Khalifa’s O.N.I.F.C. fell a notch short of debuting atop the sales chart.

Leading the way this week is Wiz Khalifa’s O.N.I.F.C. at No. 2 behind Taylor Swift‘s Red (167,000). According to Nielsen SoundScan, the new LP has shelled out 141,400 copies after seven days in stores. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
