Wiz Khalifa has addressed rumors claiming he has engaged in a verbal altercation with Southern rapper Waka Flocka Flame at last week's Hot 97 Summer Jam concert in New Jersey.
In addition to denying the talk, Khalifa also revealed that he and Waka were friends.
“Yeah, nothing happened backstage,” Khalifa said. “It’s always something; making up some rumor about something happening with me backstage during somebody’s set, but nothing happened. Me and Waka and are cool. That’s just people trying to promote negativity.” (MTV)
The rapper also addressed the amount of gossip and rumors popularized by the Internet these days.
“There’s just so much fake sh– going on. Like, people will buy into what’s fake. According to people, this isn’t my Rolex, you know?” he said. “But that’s just what mugs like to think and what they like to talk about, but the reality of the situation is everything’s under control. And this is my Rolex. That I bought.” (MTV)
Reports of an exchange between Khalifa and Waka became online knowledge last weekend.
Well, what do we have here? I wasn’t at Summer Jam. Three other people from AHH went to the “jam” and repped the brand. But, I heard from birdies something that slipped past my cohorts. I heard that Wiz Khalifa and Waka Flocka had some kind of beef during the Hot 97 managed event… Yeah, I heard they were shouting match of sorts. I hope Waka didn’t try to grab Amber Rose‘s booty or something. Anyway, that’s all I have now, but if you hear more…HIT ME UP!!!!! (AHH Rumors)
In April, Khalifa’s girlfriend/model Amber Rose came forward to deny reports of the rapper facing off with her ex-lover Kanye West following a Coachella music festival set.
The woman caught in the middle was a little hesitant striking down the rumor. “Was there a confrontation at Coachella?,” Amber asked, repeating the question. There is a long pause. “Rumors are crazy and people want things to happen and make it their real life and I guess that’s all I can really say about that.” (VIBE)
