[With the box office success of “Straight Outta Compton” already sparking talks of a sequel in the works, late N.W.A. leader Eazy-E’s daughter E.B. Wright talks to SOHH about the film’s celebrity co-signs.]
It’s absolutely amazing to see everyone embrace the film. In the beginning I was kind of worried because there are a lot of biopics that don’t come out right.
A lot of things are left out and a lot of people aren’t supportive but this film was really done really well. It touched on a lot of things.
A lot of the things N.W.A. went through, the racism and fighting, to show them becoming the artists they wanted to be, a voice of the people, we have social media now but back then they didn’t have social media so they used their influence to shed light on the things that they were seeing, the things that were wrong and the things happening around them.
They wanted to inform the world.
It’s really incredible to see everyone embrace the film and being supportive.
I love it. I’m really excited for everyone to see it. For people to just get knowledgeable of N.W.A. and Eazy-E and what they did, even for hip-hop and music overall, it means a lot.
A lot of people, especially in my generation, don’t know Eazy-E – they know he’s iconic and his face on t-shirts, but they don’t really know his impact and what he really did.
