After making major headlines over his breakup with Young Money superstar Nicki Minaj, New York rapper Safaree Samuels dishes on what’s on deck with his music.

According to Safaree, he plans to release an EP called I Am Safaree.

“I’m looking for people to be extremely surprised with my versatility. When people hear it… I’m a very tough critic. When people hear my stuff they are going to be very surprised. I definitely know that. They’re going to be like, “Wow.” They’re going to be like, “I cannot believe all this time, he was able to do this. I’m glad he’s doing it now.” Lyrically, people are going to be surprised about my capability on the stuff that I’m putting out. I definitely believe so.” (XXL Mag)

Samuels also explained what put his music on the back burner these past few years.

“Well, before I wasn’t really in the position to focus on myself. It seemed like shit all had to do with timing, it wasn’t a place where I could do both at the same time. Now that I’m free to do it, I’m going to do it. … I just had to prioritize things. I just had to take care of what took precedence over what I was trying to do.” (XXL Mag)

Along with killing the ghostwriting rumor, Samuels recently openly apologized to ex-wifey Nicki Minaj.

New York radio station Hot 97 host Ebro slammed Safaree for speaking out on his relationship to Nicki publicly last month.

“I spoke to Nicki yesterday and she was upset about all of this and I just told her to be patient because in a few weeks this will all be gone and no one will be talking about your ex and your old relationships, but she was most upset about the idea that someone else was writing her rhymes. He asserted that there was help. When you look at Nicki Minaj’s album credits, there’s a lot of people that work on albums… But when you assert that somebody wrote your rhymes – you know that’s Nicki’s thing. But I told you that’s why he did it, because he knew that would hurt you.” (Hot 97)
