[With the long-awaited N.W.A. biopic around the corner, late group leader Eazy-E's son, Lil Eazy-E, tells SOHH readers how much of an impact his dad had on the music biz.]
I don’t really go for the accolades. All I can say is that I’m one of the realest out there. That’s the cloth I’m cut from. That’s why I’m in the game and why I got into the game is to keep my father’s legacy alive and resurrect him. I’m his son.
Everything he’s been through in his life, I’ve simultaneously been through. I was born and raised in the same house so if anything, as his first born, as his blood right, I wouldn’t be in this music business if he wasn’t alive, I wouldn’t be in this if he was a football player. I’m doing this because my father was taken away from me early and as his son, I love, respect and miss my him.
There wouldn’t be no radio stations playing or no music with people listening to their favorite rapper today if it wasn’t for my father. Certain individuals go out there and say, “You can’t be Eazy-E.” Motherf*cker, duh. I’m his first born son and by that mean, I’m going to do what I have to do to keep his legacy alive.
Whether you want to or I have to, I’m going to. There’s never going to be another one of him but I’m Eric Wright, Jr. motherf*cker.
