The 87th annual Academy Awards started off with a nod to rap star Kanye West during its opening Sunday (February 22) night.

Oscars host Neil Patrick Harris playfully referenced Kanye’s recent Grammy Awards interruption during the show’s monologue.

Neil Patrick Harris, 41, lit up the stage inside the Dolby Theater during his opening monologue at the 2015 Oscars on Feb. 22. He sang and danced — which is what he does best — but he also took a moment to throw a jab at Kanye West, poking fun at the rapper for storming the stage at the Grammy Awards. It was so entertaining, but we don’t think Kanye will be a fan. Midway through his opening number, Neil said, “I secretly hope somebody pulls a Kanye West,” as the camera panned to Clint Eastwood. Check out what Kanye said about his Grammys interruption on the next page…

Earlier this month, Kanye said he used the media platform to let his true feelings burst out after this year’s Grammy Awards show.

“Well you know what happened? It’s because I sat there and I kind of let that [smolder] and I was asked my opinion and I was given a platform. And when given a platform, it’s very hard as we know — and I’m going to talk in third person like I’m a crazy person — but it’s very hard for Kanye West to not be very true and vocal to what he feels. You know, it’s like people take the Grammys for granted in a way because of the commercials, because a lot of the musicians are very rich and everything, but this is our Super Bowl. You know, and someone’s got to be mad that [Marshawn Lynch] didn’t get the ball.” (“Ryan Seacrest”)

Instead of taking personal offense, award winner Beck assured fans he had no ill feelings toward Mr. West after the Grammys.

“I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right? … I thought [Beyoncé] was going to win. Come on she’s Beyoncé. … You can’t please everybody, man — I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.” (Us Magazine)

Kanye made his way to the Grammy stage when Beck won “Album of the Year” ahead of pals like Beyoncé and Sam Smith.

Beck, who also won Best Rock Album, seemed as surprised as the rest of the audience when he won the award and appeared to be looking around for help. That’s when West popped up on stage and moved toward Beck as if he was about to take the trophy. Instead, West turned away and quickly jumped down, but not before getting laughs from Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z. (Fox News)
