[After catching some attention as a featured SOHH First artist, Skipp Whitman’s one-man show is expanding to a live set this Friday, June 12, at Los Angeles’ House of Blues. Today, he tells you why it’s worth checking him out in-person!]
The House of Blues. I’ve been in Los Angeles for a year. I had to leave New York City because I couldn’t take the winter anymore .. thinking, if I could play any club in Los Angeles what would it be? The House of Blues. I couldn’t explain how I got the gig aside from follow up to follow follow up. Timing. Luck.
I’m real excited for this big because in Los Angeles I’m different. I’m playing with a band and they’re different. The grooves are crazy. Listening to these pro musicians interpret the tunes I put together is such a thrill.

The show is going to be special because aside from where it is, it’s where I’m at with things. I’m in the middle of recording my next album: ‘Downtown,’ and will be trying out some songs from it on that night. Anyone who hasn’t seen me before can expect energy. I jump around. It’s me and some musicians and I just jump around. With the vibe that happens, it’s impossible not to.
For those who do know me, ‘Sucks Being Broke,’ might have to happen. I’m excited to see you there.
