Weezy F. Baby took to Twitter Thursday (August 23) evening to reveal its drop date.

“D4 aug-30,” he tweeted in reference to the upcoming mixtape. (Lil Wayne’s Twitter)

Last week, the project’s animated cover art hit the Internet.

Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 mixtape might be pushed back a week, but at least we get a look at the album’s creative cover. Weezy fan Jesse Diebolt designed the artwork, which features a cartoon version of Wayne holding a skateboard. (Looks like even the animated version of the MC favors skateboarding over rapping .) He recently explained why Dedication 4 would not drop on time.

“I know I was supposed to drop that Dedication 4 tonight – but listen, my homeboy 2 Chainz just dropped his album yesterday. That’s my real, real, real good homeboy right there and I refuse to put any attention on me when the spotlight, everybody’s eyes, everybody’s attention and everybody’s focus should be on my n*gga 2 Chainz’s album Based On A T.R.U. Story. So therefore I ain’t giving you b*tches Dedication 4 yet. I’ma give it to ya’ll in another week or so. But I ain’t gonna lie, I ain’t finished that motherf*cker. I’ve been skating and sh*t, falling and sh*t and all that type of sh*t, but I’ll give it to you like, next week. Stop trippin’ pimp.” (Bread Over Bed)

Recently, Weezy detailed his motivation for putting together another Dedication installment.

“I just felt like it was time. I got bored,” Weezy told DJ Drama when asked about the motivation behind his upcoming mixtape. “Being me, I always feel like I ain’t done nothing yet. So I’m always looking for the next thing ‘to do.’ Other than that, yeah, it does get pretty boring when it comes to just the rapping and all that type of stuff. I’ve done so much of it. I’ve been doing it since I was eight and I’m about to be thirty in September and I’m still rapping. I kind of feel like I’m getting old. [laughs]” (Drama Like The DJ)
