Whoopi Goldberg is under fire for asking if White people should be “beaten by police” while discussing police reform on The View. On Twitter, Black and White fans shared their thoughts on her comments.
The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg has fans in an uproar for asking if White people should be “beaten up” by police officers more often to change policing in America.
While on The View, Goldberg was discussing the murder of Memphis, Tenn. native Tyre Nichols. The actress and TV personality shifted to police reform and asked whether or not White people should get “beat up” to see a change in American policing.
“Do we need to see White people also get beat before anybody will do anything?” Goldberg asked. “
“I’m not suggesting that,” Goldberg added. “So don’t write us and tell me what a racist I am. I’m just asking is that what people have to see in order to wake up and realize this affects us all?”
Reactions on Twitter were split with White Twitter users calling Goldberg a “racist” and adding that she should be fired by ABC for her comments.
Taken Out Of Context?
Two Twitter users, one White, and the other Black, both felt Goldberg’s comments were taken out of context.
The Black Twitter user defended Goldberg and said she agreed with her and compared Black drug addicts’ arrests to White drug addicts who get help more often than Black addicts.
The White user felt Goldberg was misquoted and further elaborated. Another Black user said Goldberg is under fire because people intentionally take words out of context.
In the case of police shootings by race, approximately 2,400 White people were shot to death compared to over 1,300 Black victims, according to Statistica.com.
Summer Walker & T.I. Feel The KKK Should Face RICO Charges
In summer of 2022, Summer Walker and rapper T.I. posted on their social media accounts, asking why the racist organization Ku Klux Klan, or KKK, has never been indicted on RICO charges. RICO is a charge for organized crime such as murder, kidnapping, theft, etc, which the KKK has all been accused of doing.
