“When Nicki [Minaj] Started Out There Weren’t Any Females In Her World”

While Nicki Minaj may not have made it onto MTV's "Hottest MCs in the Game" list this year, Atlanta singer Ciara recently showered her with massive props for storming the rap game with a high-level of success and talent.

Despite handfuls of lady emcees in the game, CiCi credited Minaj for bringing something new and refreshing to the hip-hop world upon her mainstream arrival a few years ago.

“Yeah. I mean, Nicki was a breath of fresh air for female hip hop because when Nicki started out there weren’t any females in her world,” Ciara said in an interview. “There’s only a few female rap artists that have been successful in the big way that Nicki Minaj is. But in my case, I like taking risks, jumping out and doing something that’s different.” (Dazed Digital)

Much like her stance, Cash Money Records co-owner Birdman previously named Nicki one of the all-time best female hip-hop artists.

“I say she is, but if she’s not today, within time she will be. No female ever will be able to sell more records than her, have more singles than her, have more number one singles than her, have more awards–no more nothing. She had the most singles by a female last year. Her accomplishments are gonna speak for themselves.” (Complex)

Coincidentally, Nicki bigged herself up this week and boasted about her rap skills over the majority of male hip-hop artists out right now.

“[With her upcoming album Pink Friday: The Pinkprint] I care less about the acceptance and more about me being the lyrical, ill bi**h that I am, knowing that I am lyrically better than most of the male rappers out there–yes, I’m gonna say it. I don’t get the credit that I deserve.” (MTV)

After missing MTV’s “Hottest MCs in the Game” Top 10 list last month, the music network issued an honorable mentions rundown with her on it a few weeks ago.

With the 2013 edition of MTV’s “Hottest MC’s” in the game finally concluded, MTV felt it was time to give notoriety to three artist that didn’t make the cut. First up was Jay-Z who’s a former number 1 hottest emcee opened the Barclays Center in a 8-night concert series, but didn’t release any new solo music during 2012 with only features. Nicki Minaj also a former top emcee, became a superstar in 2012 with becoming the next host on American Idol, but according to their criteria, she was quiet during the year. Capping off the clip was Lil’ Wayne, who like Jiggaman is also a former top emcee didn’t release any a project in 2012, with Sway saying after his “I Am Not A Human Being II” release; he’ll be right back at the forefront of their list.
