Though DJ Webstar is enjoying regional success in the northeast he's the first to admit that his buzz doesn't compare to that of rap newcomer Drake.

Webstar told SOHH that he does not view Drake at competition.

“I’ma keep it real. Me and Drake is real good friends and he’s so talented and he’s so hot right now. He’s way hotter than me right now. He’s scorchin’. Everything he’s doing is catching fire. Me, I’m on fire in New York, Phily, Connecticut, Virginia… I’m just starting to evolve and spread. I’ve traveled the whole country and he’s hot everywhere, man. Hopefully one day I’ll be in competition with him. Right now, I thin he’s just in a world of his own. Labels [were] offering him 3 – 4 million dollars when they only offering me 3 – 4 hundred thousand.” (SOHH)

Drake recently ended his bidding war by signing a deal with his mentor Lil Wayne for an undisclosed amount.

“I actually signed directly to my managers Cortez Bryant and Gee Roberson,” Drake explained in an interview. “And we signed a joint venture with Young Money which is Lil Wayne’s company. The courting was nice, I had some great dinners in hotels, I got some nice things [during the bidding war.] I think the best part about it is that we’ve done this thing in the industry where it’s been so organic to do it with the people that I’m doing it with. It’s kinda like we’re doing it by ourselves. It’s distributed through Universal.” (Alexa Chung)

Last month Webstar made headlines for speaking out against Jay-Z‘s new single “D.O.A.”

“I’m not gonna say I regret it but I probably wouldn’t do it again. I speak my mind and stand up for what I believe in,” he said. “I feel nobody else was gonna speak up. I believe that the young people need somebody to speak for them. I’d be more than happy to speak I don’t care who it is, Jay-Z, Oprah whoever I speak up against anybody if I feel it’s the right thing to do. I love his music I bought all his albums. Just ’cause he’s a legend and he’s a big hip-hop mogul don’t mean he’s always right. Nobody’s always right but God. I speak for what I believe in.” (SOHH)

Webstar currently has a collabo album in the works with fellow Harlem rapper Jim Jones.

“Webstar had a smash song on the radio and I kept thinking like, ‘D*mn, it’s a Harlem thing going on.’ I called him up and jumped on the record with him and the song ended up doing things we couldn’t imagine,” Jones explained in an interview…We thought of different ways to make Webstar bigger than he already is. I told him if we did a duet album together, it wouldn’t be a discredit to him, it would only help build his brand which in turn will get him more money when he does his solo album…I’m about to take a trip back into the lab and start my infamous recording process that I’m known for, so look forward to that.” (BET)
