Louisiana rapper Webbie is reportedly behind bars on serious charges. New reports claim the Southern hip-hop artist allegedly choked and held his girlfriend captive in Baton Rouge.
According to gossip buzz, the arrest went down Wednesday (July 5) and cops charged Webb with second degree battery, false imprisonment and domestic abuse by strangulation.
Law enforcement tells us the 25-year-old woman told cops Webbie choked her, hit her and refused to let her leave the room for more than 2 hours. Police say she had visible bruising around her neck and face … bad enough she was taken to the hospital. Webbie was arrested but complained of some medical issue, so he was taken to a nearby hospital. He was cleared by doctors and then taken to jail. (TMZ)
Specific details have also surfaced on the female victim’s graphic injuries.
According to the arrest warrant, Baton Rouge police were called to the Comfort Inn, 4924 Constitution Ave., at 6:26 a.m. Wednesday. The victim told police Gradney beat her in the head, neck, arms, legs and back, alternately with a closed and open fist, as well as a belt. At one point, he pinned her to the ground with his knees in her throat until she couldn’t breathe for several seconds, according to the warrant. Her fractured nose left her coughing and spitting up blood, the report says. (The Advocate)
Separate reports claim Webbie had received treatment for a medical condition.
The 31-year-old old rapper known as “Webbie” was hospitalized and in the custody of Baton Rouge Police, WBRZ has learned. Police confirmed the entertainer was placed under arrest and was in an area hospital being treated for an unknown medical condition. A spokesperson for the rapper said previous reports about the rapper’s condition were incorrect, though did not specify what was keeping him hospitalized. (WBRZ News)
The rap veteran has previously landed behind bars for violence against a woman.
Gradney was previously arrested in 2012 for battery and robbery, when he allegedly kicked a woman down two flights of stairs. In 2011, he was arrested on drug possession and tampering with evidence charges after he was pulled over following a performance in Kentucky. And he was also arrested in 2008 following a high-speed police chase in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on charges including driving under the influence and felony eluding. (The Billboard)
