According to Face Mob, health concerns largely contributed to him going from 291 pounds to 193.

“I was at stroke level,” admitted the Houston MC. “I had it all: congestive heart failure, malignant high blood pressure, kidney damage, enlarged heart, sleep apnea, borderline diabetic, etc.  My life was threatened.  So if someone in the street threatens my life, he better make good on it. Because I have to kill him or he’s going to kill me. So I had to kill bad health.” (Black Doctor)

The Geto Boys leader also revealed how close he flirted with death.

“My doctor told me that I would have a massive heart attack,” Scarface continued.  “That along with other stuff that I wanted to be around for and here to see pushed me. I’m doing whatever it takes to lose weight. “I think people struggle with their weight because they don’t want to grind.  It’s really a portion control thing and it’s unfortunate that I had to learn it on my deathbed.  I had to learn to eat to live instead of live to eat.” (Black Doctor)

Back in June, reports revealed rap star Rick Ross had shed 100 pounds over the past year.

The hip-hop star has been losing weight gradually since last year and has dropped an estimated 100 pounds at least, according to reports. Ross, who has continuously touted Reebok’s CrossFit program when asked about his slimmer figure, and his rep have not confirmed an actual number. Fans started to notice Ross’ weight loss last fall (pictured above, left, Ross performs in Miami on Nov. 23, 2013). A few weeks prior, Ross said he had relied on a personal trainer and a gym routine to lose weight.

“I ain’t really keeping up with the amount of weight,” Ross said when asked how much weight he has lost. “I just wanted to get into better shape, put myself in a better position. I still eat the way I want to eat. I just go to the gym now. I do this sh*t called CrossFit. I call it RossFit. It’s called RossFit now. If y’all see this, hashtag RossFit. … Reebok had introduced me to a trainer and what he turned me onto was, let’s say for instance, if you’re on a treadmill and you did that sh*t for 30 minutes, you burning calories but you could be doing something that’s burning calories and building muscles at the same time.” (“Tim Westwood TV”)
