Music newcomer AJ Mitchell set the bar high with his recently released “Spring Break” music video. In celebration of the weather getting warmer, Mitchell tells SOHH how he managed to snag Rich The Kid for the visual, the song’s creation and more. Watch and peep below!
SOHH: Where did the song concept come from and when did you put it together?
AJ: I just wanted to make a fun, more hip-hop leaning song since I hadn’t really made one yet. We wrote it about a month out from actual Spring Break and immediately after we cut it we knew it was the next single, so all the stars really aligned perfectly for this one.
SOHH: When did you come up with the idea of tagging Rich The Kid for the record? Why did he make sense?
AJ: I’ve always been a fan of Rich’s music. Right off the bat I thought he’d be a great feature, but also one that most people might not expect.
SOHH: Give us the story on putting together this dope-looking video.
AJ: The concept behind Spring Break is about being in the mindset that anywhere can be Spring Break, so we wanted to bring the lyrics to life in the video. Over time, my house slowly turns into Spring Break until eventually, we end up with our bed actually on the beach. That was fun to shoot.
