Less than a week after the box office success of N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, there’s talk of a sequel coming together.

According to West Coast rapper Daz, a sequel is already in the works.

Dogg Pound vet Daz tells TMZ the movie will pick up where N.W.A. left off — following the careers of Snoop, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Daz and Warren G. We’re told the title is “Dogg Pound 4 Life.” Tha DPG’s music will be the focus, but Daz says the follow-up also won’t whitewash gang violence and its impact on the rap industry. (TMZ)

Young Money’s Nicki Minaj boasted about the flick’s box office success earlier this week.

After only 3 full days in theaters, the flick managed to debut at number 1 and surpassed its $28 million budget.

“Straight Outta Compton” lifted the box office out of its August funk, debuting at No. 1 in the U.S. and Canada with an estimated $56.1 million. The movie posted the biggest August opening ever for an R-rated film, and it has become the No. 1 musical biopic. (Los Angeles Times)

Late N.W.A. leader Eazy-E‘s daughter E.B. Wright talked to SOHH last week about her overall support for Straight Outta Compton.

“We were filming it about a year ago and I spent some time on the set, just getting to know Jason Mitchell, who portrays my dad and he really just did a phenomenal job. I couldn’t be more proud and I don’t think there was anyone that could have played my dad better. The overall film is really good. Dr. Dre and Ice Cube and F. Gary Gary, director, they did a really good job. They were really sensitive with the whole story since my dad isn’t alive. His own personal part of the story, they had to sort of build around that so I’m just proud of it. There’s a lot that I feel was left out of his personal storyline but this movie was about N.W.A. as a collective and their brotherhood and how they started and everything they went through.” (SOHH)

  1. Lol, no one wants to see that. N.W.A’s biopic was so successful because they are so beloved, legendary, and well-known. If you asked someone on the street if they’d watch a movie about Daz or Kurupt, or even Nate Dogg they’d say who? Snoop and Warren are more well known.

I’d rather see a Wu-Tang Clan or Public Enemy biopic!

    • Dogg pound members are way more well known than NWA members individually.. Most of y’all couldn’t even name everyone in NWA.

  2. I doubt this is a real sequel. If it is, I can see it as a “B-Movie” sequel without the same writers/directors/studio/etc, probably go straight to DVD or have a limited release. It’s already been reported that F Gary Gray said that if he did a 2nd Biopic, he would like it to be about the Wu Tang.
