Arts East New York presents the summer series “Renewal Weekends” which provides free cultural and art activities to the East New York community every 2nd weekend of the month at their Renew Lots Market.

On Saturday, June 13th from 1-9pm AENY will host “Pass the Mic: Exploring Hip-Hop’s Generational Gap,” located at 170 New Lots Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11207.

The Renew Lots Market is a one stop pop up shopping and cultural enrichment destination hosting food, fashion, art. “Pass The Mic” will kick off with an open mic and spoken word session for all up and coming and aspiring lyricist.

At 2pm DJ Evil J will present on of his classic DJ sets.

At 4pm The Hip Hop Union will host a panel featuring Nikki D, the first female to ever sign to Def Jam Records, Sadat X of Brand Nubians and rapper and Oxygen Network’s sta rNyemiah Supreme.

From 6-8pm, performing live will be Kirk Night of the Pro Era click, dance crew Flex is Kings and members of the Cypher League, Amani Fela, Dom O Briggs and Nicholas Hunt.

The kick-off June’s reNewal Weekends AENY will introduce reExplore East New York a historical trolley tour exclusively designed to introduce tourist to Arts East New York’s [re]New Lots Artist and Market Incubator and explore landmarks within East New York. (Press Release)
