Maybach Music Group’s Wale recently offered his take on the music industry and why ventures like rap mogul Jay Z‘s TIDAL might take time to build momentum.

In Wale’s opinion, music streaming services are continuing to build momentum.

“Music is in a weird place right now because you got the streaming, iTunes, Spotify and now Jay Z has Tidal — We’re not gonna know the significance of the place we’re in right now for like the next 10 years when we look back on it.” (“Larry King Now”)

Roc Nation’s Rihanna released her new “American Oxygen” song via Young Hov’s new TIDAL service last weekend.

Less than 24 hours after debuting her new song “American Oxygen” at the March Madness Music Fest in Indianapolis, Rihanna has premiered the track exclusively on Jay Z’s new music streaming service Tidal. (Billboard)

Last weekend, Jay’s superstar wife Beyoncé premiered a new song on TIDAL.

In honor of their seventh wedding anniversary, Beyoncé celebrates her love for Jay Z on a new song called “Die With You,” which debuted Saturday on Jay Z’s new streaming service TIDAL. Wearing a Michael Jackson Thriller T-shirt and braids under a backwards cap, she performs the stripped-down song while playing the piano. The tender tribute includes the touching lyrics: “I don’t have a reason to be if I can’t be with you” and “I live so I can die with you.” (Rap-Up)

Last week, Jay Z revealed he had one-on-one conversations with each TIDAL business partner.

“I talked to everyone one on one about music and about what they would like to see in a service, and how would they like this to go. I wanted to know if they were willing to take a chance, since everyone’s names are attached and their reputations, too. And I just believe as long as we’re on the side of right, and we’re in this for the right reasons, it will work. It’s just a big opportunity for everyone — not a thing that belongs to any one person. That’s not fair, that’s not a democratic process, and that isn’t the idea behind it.” (Billboard)
