Wale took to Twitter to announce he is pulling out of the upcoming Broccoli City Music Festival. But he’s back on the bill – this time with “friends.”
BroccoliFest is set to go down May 7 and 8 in Wale’s hometown, Washington D.C. The festival would be headlined by Ari Lennox, 21 Savage and Lil Durk, with Wale listed below the others on the flyer.
Wale Drops Out, Then Drops In
Fans immediately speculated that Wale dropped out of the event because he didn’t get top billing. Wale has been accused of being more interested in clout and respect than making music, even going so far as naming himself the GOAT.
However, the rapper cleared up that his post about dropping out was simply due to miscommunication within his team, saying on Twitter:
“I have no issue with BC or anybody. Some folks jumped the gun and “agreed for me” . I’m not interested in throwin anybody under the bus . This happens all the time in this business .Everybody that knows no knows that I’d perform on that joint at 5 am if that’s what’s in contract”
Currently, Wale has been added back to the flyer on the first line along with headliners 21 Savage and Lil Durk. And this time, it looks like he’s brought along some “friends.”
BroccoliFest calls itself the largest annual weekend mobilizing young people, companies, and community organizations to create a more RACIALLY EQUITABLE world for black Millennials and Gen Z’ers.
