[With his new Turn Up Godz Tour in full swing alongside DJ Whoo Kid, Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame talks to SOHH about the experience and his approach to music-making as Flockaveli 2 begins to take shape.]
I just love my company. I just feel like we have to come and see these markets. These markets are very important because when you drop an album, you’re only concerned with the “A” market. Sometimes the “B” market.
So I wanted to show the underground market more love now. I feel like this is the last leg of it right now, dropping new music.
So I had to try the “C” and “D” market out and then I’m heading overseas and it’s back to Flockaveli 2.
People love it. It’s like a breath of fresh air. A lot of people would go up to me like, “Yo man, what the f*ck?” Now everybody wants to hear that new Waka.
I’m about to start releasing more hardcore records.
When I’m making Flockaveli 2, I’m not thinking about the radio friendly hits. It’s all streets. When I see the streets, they say it’s a ten.
To me, the radio ain’t music. That sh*t’s politics. The fans want you. So I’m going to give them that underground music.
