On what he’s learned in recent years about art and life:
“You can be uncompromising and not be an a**hole. I didn’t think you could before. I didn’t know that you could make uncompromising art and not be a d*ckhead.”

“I spent years of my life thinking that I was dead and stuck in purgatory.”
On the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal:
“It’s a metaphor for the city of Philadelphia that he’s still fighting and won’t go out, won’t cop a plea.”
On being happy:
“Happy people make me mad. But I think I hate that I’m not that way. And I think that I hate stupid people because stupid people are happy, because they’re too stupid to know that they shouldn’t be.”
