Vin hopped onto Naughty By Nature’s Twitter page to defend himself hours after Treach’s comments.

“I’m waking to drama. Spoke to my publicist. Silence is Golden. In the meantime Business 101: You can’t Fire the Owner ;-),” he tweeted May 7th.

“We’ll definitely be rocking! Full Force! @Jexpo1976: @rootspicnic Will you have an act replacing @naughtybynature? Was pretty stoked on seeing those cats.” (Naught By Nature’s Twitter)

Following Vin’s comments, Treach also spoke out and denied his Twitter page was compromised.

“No NAUGHTY shows are Cancelled that’s on the the Calendar!!”

“My Twitter Account wasnt Hacked!! I said it & Stand By it!!”

“Look for the reply to you Cant fire the Owner entitled ” TALL MIDGET” Released Tonight!!” (Treach’s Twitter)

Treach broke the news of his disassociation from Vinnie on Twitter late Monday (May 6) night.

“Vinnie from NAUGHTY BY NATURE is Officially FIRED!! Anything he does besides shows til Sept is Frugazy!! F*ck him & the Ground he Walks!!,” Treach tweeted.

“Anybody that f*cks with that B*tch a** N*gga Don’t F*ck with Me!!” (Treach’s Twitter)

Although not a direct response, Vinnie appeared to give his take on the matter via an Instagram photo.

“‘Warriors are not what you think of as warriors. The warrior is not someone who fights, because no one has the right to take another life. The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of thers. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who can not provide for themselves, and above all, the children, the future of humanity.’ – Sitting Bull,” Vinnie posted with the headline “Sitting Vin” (Vinnie’s Instagram)

Coincidentally, Treach talked to SOHH a couple years ago and boasted about Naughty By Nature’s longevity in the rap game.

“The fans have been asking for this. There’s not too many groups that have been in the game like we have and still have a following. But the biggest ready why you need to get the album is because your n*gga Trigga said so. For you to have fans and to hear their passion for wanting to hear your music, I’m a fan of my own material. So I’ve been waiting to hear this as well. It’s been ten years since the last album so it’s finally time. The fans are never going to have to wait this long again.” (SOHH 5 Reasons Why You Should Buy)

The New Jersey natives’ career together dates back over two decades.

Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee comprise the rap group from East Orange. The group, known for successful crossover songs “O.P.P.” (1991) and “Hip Hop Hooray” (1993), celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011. (Star-Ledger)
