As the “U Mad” artist gears up for the Star Line Festival with Chance The Rapper, he told TMZ he wanted to help people in Ghana by providing clean drinking water. Mensa is received assistance from his father, a native of Ghana.

Together, according to TMZ, the father-son duo are building three boreholes in different villages.

“We’re building three boreholes in different communities in Ghana to provide clean drinking water,” he said. “The first being the Asokore Zongo in Koforidua, where my family lives, which is already built.”

The other locations include the nearby village of Effiduase and his ancestral village in the Volta Region, Amedzofe.

“Most people in communities like this in Ghana experience constant waterborne diseases,” Mensa said.

According to Mensa, the drilling will take about a month with tons of fixing pipes and cable installation, along with two weeks of on-site drilling. The completion of the borehole drilling will cost $45K.

The Chicago native also recently took Ghanaian children on a field trip alongside Chance The Rapper.
