New York rapper Vado is still ride or die for the memory of late friend Chinx. The hip-hop artist has acknowledged the importance of April 19.

Vado went to Instagram Thursday (April 19) and revealed today marks the date they last put in studio work together.

Earlier this year, Chinx’s longtime friend French Montana reacted to reports about men allegedly connected to his death getting arrested.

“Um, how I felt about that whole situation, I felt happy for his family. You know, to get a closure. For his wife, his mother, his family to get a closure. That’s what I felt happy for. Because it’s nothing [better] for a mother to know who did something to her child or something like that. That was the most important thing. Just for Janelli, just for them to know what’s going on. It’s just like, everybody’s going through a stressful time. He was at the top of the iceberg. He was about to take off. That was his moment and the same thing that happened to Stack Bundles happened to him. It seems like a cycle. Everybody’s about to blow up and they want to keep it so real and stay here. It doesn’t work like that. Sometimes growth comes with elevation and changing your life with your status, with your progression, with the level you’re trying to get to. You don’t go to Marcy and still see JAY-Z there posted on the block. Sometimes you gotta step back to take two forward. It’s just a sad moment. I felt like it took a piece out of all of us. I felt like all of us lost a piece of us when that happened. So you know, what that part came, I just felt happy for his family.” (Revolt TV)

The same month, Chinx’s widow Janelli Caceres-Pickens spoke on attending the trial for the men allegedly behind her husband’s death.

“It gets harder and harder every time just to literally stare someone in the eyes and not be able to say anything,” Caceres-Pickens said. “It’s hard, it’s hard. A lot of emotions run through you.” Quincy Homere, 32, appeared in court with a new attorney, Scott Bookstein, who asked for some time to become familiar with the case. It was the same for defendant Jamar Hill, 26. Both have pleaded not guilty. Homere is currently in federal custody on an unrelated charge. Hill is doing state time. (Fox 5 NY)

Janelli also said she’s determined to attend the trial dates until the suspects’ fates are revealed.

Caceres-Pickens said [she] has vowed to attend every court hearing, no matter what toll it takes on her heart. “It’s just a waiting process. It’s an emotional roller coaster—you come in, you have to see them, you have to face them,” Caceres-Pickens said. “The feelings just run through you all over again.” It is too soon to know if the defendants will either be offered a plea deal or stand trial. They’re due back before Justice Holder in February. (Fox 5 NY)
