Grammy-winning singer Usher has partnered up with hip-hop star Nas and singer Bibi Bourelly for the release of their new police brutality-themed song, “Chains.”

Usher united with music streaming service TIDAL to launch the new song through a facial recognition-enhanced music experience via Chains.TIDAL.com.

Usher released a new interactive visual experience titled Don’t Look Away, centered on his song “Chains,” featuring Nas & Bibi Bourelly. This experience is available to the public only on TIDAL at http://chains.tidal.com. “Chains” will be exclusive to TIDAL for three days and won’t be found anywhere else. Using next generation facial recognition technology and music, this debut is the first of its kind. (TIDAL Press Release)

Ush has explained his motivation for putting together the thought-provoking song.

“In writing this song, I was motivated by the events involving prejudicial injustice that are still happening today. The reality is that racial bigotry diminishes the lives of too many people in our country. We have to come together as a country to solve these problems and this is one way I can contribute. I chose to introduce the song through the “Don’t Look Away” experience because it is important not only to feel the issue but to face it. The pain and suffering that these victims and their families have endured is something we must never forget. When we look away from this problem it gets worse. To fix it, we have to face it.” (Statement)

The R&B star will perform his new song at the music service’s TIDAL X 1020 concert next week in New York City.

Usher will perform “Chains” for the first time at the TIDAL X 1020 Amplified by HTC concert. Proceeds from the concert will benefit groups which promote social impact and change. (TIDAL Press Release)

Last month, TIDAL executive Jay Z announced the music streaming site’s platinum status.
