G.O.O.D. Music’s Yasiin “Mos Def” Bey has come forward to speak out on rap star Lupe Fiasco accepting his open challenge to a hip-hop battle.
Instead of green lighting the potential war of words, Mos downplayed the situation.
“I stand behind the statement but at the same time I’m not trying to arrange some sort of exhibition,” Mos said in an interview. “It’s threatening to turn a fair portion of the thing into a gladiator tournament. … There’s a lot of people out here who’s a**es I think I could kick but I’m not out here trying to arrange fights with them.” (“A Country Called Earth”)

Fiasco publicly showed his interest in engaging in a battle rap with Bey on Instagram Friday (August 7).

Man Mos. You are my favorite MC. I can’t believe you pulled this move, especially since you were the one who initiated the challenge. This hurts your legacy bro.
Draw back to your 90’s self. During that time, you would never back away. Don’t go soft on us.
