Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill has plenty to brag about today (July 8) thanks to his new chart-topping Dreams Worth More Than Money opening week album sales.
Based on the official Nielsen Music numbers, his first-ever number one release sold just under 250,000 copies.
Rapper Meek Mill scores his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as Dreams Worth More Than Money opens in the top slot. The set — which was released on Maybach/Atlantic Records on June 30 — moved 246,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 5, according to Nielsen Music. (Billboard)
Based on music publication Hits Daily Double, Meek’s long-awaited new album easily sold over 200,000 copies in its opening week.
In a recent interview, Meek revealed Dreams Worth More Than Money songs which did not make the final cut would come out soon.
“As soon as I came home from jail [it was] album right here, done. Right back in the street,” Meek said in an interview. “I had a different album before I went to jail. I always see people on Instagram like ‘where them other songs at?’. We still gonna use them. They’re coming soon.” (Revolt TV)
San Diego Chargers’ Melvin Ingram recently talked to SOHH about his respect for Meek and intent to buy the new LP.
“One of my favorite rappers is Meek Mill. I feel like I gravitate a lot more to his music because I feel like I understand where he’s coming from. I would never try to say I mold myself after nobody. Of course I’m going to be on the lookout for [Dreams Worth More Than Money] because I feel like Meek’s whole album is going to be heat. I’m going to grab that. I mess with the whole [Maybach Music Group] movement. I’ve been on Meek’s music for a minute. I’ve been rocking with him for a minute.” (SOHH)
