According to a statement from Hassan Murphy, Mario is still supporting his mother despite the allegations.

“This is an unfortunate incident between a loving son and a mother who continues to struggle with a devastating addiction. Anyone who has waged the battle to save loved ones from the forces of drugs knows the irrational behavior that almost always accompanies their actions. Despite the allegations, Mario remains committed to supporting his mother.” (VIBE)

Details on the arrest landed online Friday (October 1) morning.

Mario — the platinum-selling R&B singer — was arrested in Baltimore for allegedly assaulting his own mother in an apartment they share. According to police, Mario’s mother Shawntia Hardaway — a former heroin addict — told cops the former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant had been “throwing and damaging property” … and pushed her around with his hands and forearms. Additional information on the incident was also released yesterday.

Police said that the singer’s mother claimed he was “throwing and damaging property” in the Baltimore apartment they live in, and had “pushed her using his hands and forearms, causing minor pain.” Police said they found a damaged china cabinet, broken mirror, scattered glass pieces and a hole in a door when they inspected the residence. This is reportedly the second incident which took place over the past few days.

Hardaway told police this is the second time this week Mario has been violent with her, though she doesn’t explain why. Days earlier on September 27, mother and son got into a heated argument and Mario pushed Hardaway “eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall,” theBaltimore Sun quoted the police report as saying. The “Let Me Love You” singer was charged with 2nd degree assault and released on $50,000 bond. (Neon Limelight)
