The latest update on the crime and his current whereabouts sprouted online Monday (April 29).

South Side rapper Lil Reese’s Sunday arrest on a felony warrant is tied to a 2012 videotaped incident in which he purportedly beat and stomped a woman in her Champaign home, police said Monday. Video of the attack went viral late last year, with thousands of people voicing outrage on social media over Lil Reese’s actions. Taylor appeared in Cook County Bond Court on Sunday. It was unclear as of noon Monday if or when he would be transferred to Champaign County. The warrant paperwork states he is to be held in lieu of $100,000. (Chicago Tribune)

Reports of his arrest heated up the Internet over the weekend.

Cook County records show 20-year-old Lil Reese, whose real name is Tavares Taylor, was caught sleeping in a vehicle in the 4400 block of South Wells early Sunday morning. Police ran his name and found the warrant. Records show it was issued Thursday and bail was set at $100,000. Those records also show the rapper was picked up April 13 in the 6600 block of Wentworth for driving without insurance or a license. (CBS Local)

Last fall, horrific footage of Reese attacking his girlfriend leaked.

There is a video going around that shows Lil Reese, a rapper from Chicago who just got signed to a major label, beating the life outta some girl. Lil Reese claims the video was filmed a year or two ago. I don’t listen to Lil Reese’s music or know anything about him, but I read a few tweets from hip hop blogs that claim the girl Lil Reese was beating is actually his baby momma. According to statistics, one in four women (25%) has experienced domestic violence in her lifetime, and one in five teens in a serious relationship reports having been hit, slapped, or pushed by a partner. So if she is a battered baby momma, she is not alone. (Chicago Now)

Shortly after the video went viral, Reese stepped forward and issued an open apology.

“Everybdy makes mistakes I was out of charcter & ive grown sense then Dont judge me for my past i can admit my wrongs and I apologize.#3hunna,” he tweeted October 26th.
