Rap veteran CeeLo Green has come forward to explain disturbing footage circulating online which appears to show him suffering from an exploding phone device.
In a new clip, Green explains the story behind the now-viral clip and reveals his current status.
“I just want to let everybody know that I am alive and I’m well and I am okay. And truthfully, I’m really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today and actually what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project I’m doing called Gnarly Davidson. And it’s supposed to set up and introduce the new character identity. Forgive me y’all, I’m still gonna release the music though. But first and foremost for everybody that loves and cares about me I just want to let y’all know I’m okay and I want to thank everybody for their love and support.”

Hours prior, footage emerged of what appeared to look like CeeLo nearly dying from an exploding device.
Singer CeeLo Green may have been the latest victim of an exploding phone. Recently surfaced video footage appears to show the former “Voice” coach speaking on his cellphone in a recording studio when the phone suddenly explodes right against his face. Green instantly falls out of his chair and lies on the ground before the video cuts out. (New York Daily News)

Some media outlets had considered the possibility of the footage being bogus.
It’s worth noting that in the era of fake news, it’s certainly possible the whole thing is a hoax or merely a publicity stunt for his new album. As there are no timestamps on the video, it’s unclear when exactly the incident took place, and the musician has yet to publicly comment on it. (Consequence of Sound)
