Taxstone Sentenced To 35 Years

Taxstone, a well-known figure in the hip-hop community, has received a lengthy prison sentence for his involvement in the tragic events during a T.I. concert at Irving Plaza in New York. The incident, which occurred on May 25, 2016, resulted in the death of Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, Troy Ave’s bodyguard, and left three others seriously injured.

According to prosecutors, Taxstone allegedly engaged in a confrontation with Troy Ave, stemming from previous disputes, in the green room of Irving Plaza. The situation quickly escalated, with Taxstone purportedly shooting McPhatter in the chest, resulting in his fatal injury.

During a struggle for the firearm, Troy Ave was also shot in both legs, and a man and woman present at the scene sustained severe injuries as well.

In March 2023, Taxstone faced trial in New York and was found guilty by a jury on multiple charges. The charges included manslaughter in the first degree, two counts of assault in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

The recent sentencing of Taxstone to 35 years in prison was handed down by a Manhattan judge, marking the culmination of legal proceedings related to the tragic incident. Taxstone’s attorney, Kenneth Montgomery, expressed his discontent with the verdict, stating that he believed justice had not been served.

Montgomery confirmed that an appeal would be pursued on behalf of Taxstone.

As Taxstone begins his lengthy incarceration, the hip-hop community and the public reflect on the consequences of violence within the industry and its impact on individuals and their families. The case serves as a stark reminder of the lasting repercussions that can result from such incidents.

Troy Ave To Testify At Taxstone Murder Trial 6 Years Since Slaying Of Bodyguard At T.I. Concert

Taxstone’s murder trial is underway. He is accused of killing Troy Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, at Irving Plaza amid the crossfire of his beef with Troy. Taxstone already pleaded guilty to gun possession, with sentencing expected to be decided after the trial.

The Trial Underway

Former rapper-turned-television and Twitter personality, Taxstone is facing a six-year-old murder trial. Troy Ave, who, at the time of Banga’s death, was beefing with Taxstone, has cooperated to testify.

Things got heated at a T.I. concert when the beefing rappers encountered each other at Irving Plaza in New York City in May 2016. Troy also had a history of beefing with fellow Brooklyn rapper Casanova

Troy Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, was killed after shots were fired during the concert. According to Troy, there were other rappers and prominent industry insiders at the T.I. concert. Still, none helped him tend to Banga.

“I really picked up my man body ni**a.,” he said to Math Hoffa in an interview with My Expert Opinion. “Like, I picked him up. all these ni**a’s that was there, Maino was there, any ni**a there, they didn’t help me pick up banga’s body, they walked past.”

In total, the state has two cooperating witnesses, Troy Ave and Malcolm Kinyon.

Kinyon is also charged with his connection to murder and weapon possession. He has also signed a cooperation agreement with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. Kinyon is also facing drug and firearm trafficking charges.

Taxstone has already pleaded guilty to gun possession and will be sentenced. However, the sentencing date has not been announced yet.
