New York rapper Troy Ave knows the significance of dates. The hip-hop artist has reflected on the importance of tomorrow marking the one-year anniversary of his near-fatal Irving Plaza attack.
Ave went to Instagram Wednesday (May 24) with some heartfelt words about the past 12 months and the loss of his late bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.
However, Banga’s family recently sent some viral shots at Ave in the shooting’s aftermath.
Recently, Troy spoke out on his now-infamous 2016 near-fatal New York concert shooting.
“I wear bulletproof vests. You see I had to take off my vest before we sat down here. But I’ve just been through so much, I’m not letting nobody kill me. Nobody’s taking my life. I’m going in just to build on my dream and I’m like, ‘Wow. I’m in New York City. Tip’s got a show. T.I.’s got a show. I’ma come out. Everybody’s gonna go crazy like, ‘Oh, Troy Ave. He’s one of us. It’s the Brooklyn boy. He made it independent.” [The viral video of me shooting?] I’ll say that video doesn’t show everything and I would love to talk to you more about it but I’m facing a serious case. My freedom’s on the line. I could go to jail for 20 years.” (Fox 5)
