Miami rapper Trick Daddy is making headlines this week after reportedly finding himself in handcuffs on a handful of criminal charges including drug possession.
According to reports, the unexpected arrest went down Thursday (April 3) morning.
Loaded gun. Suspended driver’s license. Cocaine. Yesterday morning, Trick Daddy (government name Maurice Young) was stopped by members of the Broward County Drug Task Force while leaving his home in Miramar. According to the arrest report, the 39-year-old lupus-afflicted rapper was behind the wheel without proper certification. So police requested a search warrant, eventually finding a weapon stashed in the bedroom and narcotics on the nightstand. (Miami New Times)
The rapper reportedly admitted to having cocaine and marijuana inside his home.
Young said he was aware and asked if it was because of his child support payments. It was at that time that BSO deputies revealed they were there conducting drug surveillance. The Miami-born “Take It To Da House” singer initially admitted to having cocaine and “maybe marijuana roaches” inside his home and signed a consent form, but he revoked it after detectives made entry, the report said. Along with the drug possession, TD was charged on other criminal offenses.
Young was arrested and the report listed the charges as two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license. Court records show Trick Daddy is out of jail on $6,100 bond. (CBS Local)
The rapper made headlines last year over an alleged incident with Young Money’s Lil Wayne.
Trick Daddy tells TMZ he’s open to a proposed sit-down with Lil Wayne to settle their feud … but what he’s actually doing is throwing gasoline on the fire. In case you’re not up to speed … Lil Wayne went ballistic after a member of Trick’s posse allegedly flicked a cigarette in Wayne’s dreads at a Miami strip club. Mr. Daddy isn’t copping to the incendiary move. Now here’s where it gets bad. Rather than trying to make things nice, Daddy’s logic is … “If I [wanted to start s**t with Lil Wayne] he would have been in the hospital for a different reason than a seizure.” Trick is bitter … claiming Wayne’s gotten him blackballed from all the good strip clubs in Miami … and hey, now all that’s left are the butterface joints. Finally … enter Birdman … who has the good sense to try and defuse the situation between the 2 feuding rappers by scheduling a sit-down happy meal. (TMZ)
