Trading Places is a classic in the comedy genre. We all love Eddie Murphy and then we developed a new appreciation for how funny Dan Akroyd could be outside of “Saturday Night Live.”

With the 35th anniversary now here, this movie has me thinking about all the buddy comedies that came out during the 80’s. Of course, Trading Places will be on the list, but where will it fall?? Here’s are the top five 80’s buddy flicks you should watch! [Be sure to read each reason and enter to win your own Trading Places copy!]

Reason 1: Trading Place

Trading Places is arguably one of the funniest movies made in the 80’s. Depending on the day of the week it may be Coming to America, but not today. Akroyd and Murphy were HILARIOUS together in this one. How can you not be drawn to laughter as Eddie Murphy is eating dinner as Dan Akroyd is in the rain staring him down. Even better, I can’t stop laughing as I am writing one the jail scene with Eddie Murphy as he’s yelling at the two other people locked up with him. Or how the $1 bet was meant to ruin another millionaire’s life. This was so popular the Duke brothers even showed up on the street in Coming to America. So much great stuff in this movie and this is why it’s sitting in the top spot of buddy comedy.
