Check out what Tim said about Missy’s long-awaited comeback album on the next page…
Earlier this month, Elliott joined pop diva Katy Perry on-stage and performed her early 2000’s hit “Get Ur Freak On” at Super Bowl XLIX.
When Perry launched into “Teenage Dream,” dancing beach balls, surfboards, sharks and even palm trees joined her on stage. Then Missy Elliott had a surprise cameo and sang, “Get Ur Freak on” Perry finished the show with an explosive rendition of “Firework” and it was explosive — with plenty of fireworks taking flight outside the stadium. Last summer, Tim revealed he was working alongside Elliott for her follow-up to 2005’s The Cookbook.
“It’s coming,” the rapper’s longtime producer and songwriting partner tells Rolling Stone. “It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there,” he says, making the sound of a gun firing. Asked what that bullet sounds like, Timbaland remains vague: “It’s something you ain’t never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future.” (Rolling Stone)
In an interview last winter, Missy killed the retirement speculation and admitted her lack of music stemmed from needing motivation.
In a video chat with Yahoo!’s “The Yo Show,” Missy discussed her lengthy hiatus from the music industry. “When I create something, it’s gotta be special and it can’t just be to throw something out there because I feel like I’m Missy,” said the 42-year-old rapper. “I gotta feel like what I’m giving the fans is 100 percent and that it’s game-changing. I don’t just throw out microwave records.” (Rap-Up)
