Three 6 Mafia Want Respect Put On Their Name

Memphis' legendary rap group Three 6 Mafia is back. It's been 12 years since their last album (2008's Last 2 Walk), and now the Oscar-winning collective is seeking respect for their legacy.

This version of Three 6 Mafia consists only of founding members DJ Paul and Juicy J. In a recent interview, Paul said former members Gangsta Boo and Crunchy Black are not part of the plans.

“They left the group, so they’ll never be back in it,” Paul said. “You know what, I’m not even gonna say never, to be honest. Who knows? They’re still down with us, we are all still family, but as far as the group, Three 6 Mafia is just me and Juicy.”

Legendary Group Wants Credit For Musical Influence

While a lot of artists who are popular today have been influenced by Triple Six, and many are sampling their music, DJ Paul doesn’t think the Mafia gets the respect they deserve.

“It’s because when you’re great at something and other people become great off something that you’ve done, they’re not going to give you credit because they don’t want anyone to know where that greatness came from. They want everybody to think that they’re the greatest to ever do it. So a lot of greats never get the credit they deserve.”

Iconic hip-hop groups Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony announced a face-off between the groups earlier this year. DJ Paul clarified it wasn’t a battle but rather a celebration of years and years of bangers.
