Satisfied with the album as a whole, Game revealed he is currently rocking out to some jams from epic rock group The Beatles.

“It’s one of the best albums I’ve ever put out,” Game said about R.E.D. “It did well and people really seem to like it. I got to work with a ton of cool people on it, like Snoop Dogg, Nelly Furtado, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown. I did a song with Tyler, The Creator, and the dude’s crazy. He won a VMA and is just ridiculous. If Odd Future ever comes up here [to Syracuse], definitely see them. They’re all crazy, but they know what they’re doing, and they do it right. [What have I been listening to lately?] The Beatles, man. I love them. It’s good, old-fashioned classic rock. That’s the kind of music that just makes you feel good.” (The Daily Orange)

A few months ago, rap newcomer Ciph Boogie talked to SOHH about late Beatles member John Lennon‘s impact on hip-hop.

“He’s really had a big impact on hip-hop,” Boogie told SOHH, referring to Lennon. “I feel like if he was still alive, a lot of the Talib Kweli and Nas‘ would have done songs with him. I think if he was still alive, they’d do songs with him. He stood for a movement. He was such a dope artist. It’s like, how could you not? The songwriting, the honesty, the choruses, he was really about rebellion. Lennon was everything that hip-hop stands for. How could you not see that? He’s really like what hip-hop embodies, like close to what Kool Herc is. I hope I don’t get shot for [saying] that. He embodies what hip-hop is, it’s the whole rebellion against a system mentality. I couldn’t think of anybody else to get a bigger inspiration from.” (SOHH)

Lennon is heavily referenced on Lil Wayne and Rick Ross‘ summer single, “John.”

Lil Wayne surprises fans by dropping “John”, previously titled “If I Die Today,” a reworked version of Rick Ross’ album cut “I’m Not a Star” from last year’s Teflon Don. Weezy adds his own deadly verses to the Bawse’s original hard-hitting record produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. “If I die today, remember me like John Lennon/ Buried in Louis, I’m talking all brown linen,” raps Tunechi on the hook, throwing it to a grunting Rozay, who flaunts his Teflon Don status. “Rip you apart, then I put myself together/ YMCMB, Double M, we rich forever.” (Rap-Up)

Despite having fallen off the Top 50 the past few weeks, Game’s R.E.D. Album debuted atop the sales chart in August.

West Coast rapper Game’s The R.E.D. Album debuted this week at No. 1. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the rapper’s fourth solo LP has sold 97,900 units to date. Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s Watch the Throne moved 94,200 records in its third week. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
