Former Def Jam hit maker The-Dream has stepped forward to address recent allegations from his ex-girlfriend about physically attacking her during a pregancy last year. #Nightmare

While brief with his comments, Dream hinted at money possibly fueling the serious claims.

“Well, of course they are, man, I’m such a lovely person,” Dream responded when asked if the accusations were fake. “They always told me, if you get this much money, just know someone’s always going to want it.” (TMZ)

Photos of Lydia Nam‘s neck injuries during her pregnancy last year emerged a few weeks ago.

Now TMZ has obtained the photos, which show giant bruises on her arm and leg, as well as scratches on her neck and face. According to the criminal complaint, Dream pulled and dragged her by her hair, choked her with a necklace she was wearing by twisting it tightly around her neck, kicked and punched her in the head and then grabbed her by the neck, pinning her to the wall and choking her again. The complaint also alleged that when Nam tried to call 911, he violently twisted her arm and said he would kill her “like O.J. Simpson killed Nicole Brown.” (TMZ)

Cops arrested Dream in early May after he turned himself over to New York law enforcement.

The-Dream turned himself into the NYPD on Wednesday morning, PEOPLE confirms. The mega producer, whose real name is Terius Nash, is being accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend Lydia Nam, 29, on April 4, 2013. She claims he assaulted, strangled and threatened her while she was pregnant during an argument at the Plaza Hotel. (People)

Despite the accusations, Dream’s camp issued a statement on his arrest.

“Dream voluntarily surrendered to the Midtown North Precinct this morning in order to responsibly address the false allegations filed against him by Lydia Nam.He is innocent of the charges filed against him today, and we are confident that when this case is concluded and all the evidence has been reviewed, it will be clear that he is innocent.”] (Los Angeles Times)
