When the list of nominations for this year's Grammy Awards was announced on Tuesday, one of the notable snubs according to fans was R&B singer Teyana Taylor. But for Teyana, she pointed out a problem with the whole R&B category that was bigger than her.
Teyana Taylor Wasn’t The Only R&B Nomination Snub
While the Internet was going off about their favorites like The Weeknd, Brandy and Summer Walker not being included among nominations in any category, Teyana Taylor focused on the fact that not one female artist was nominated in the R&B category.
“Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM cause all I see is d*ck in this category.”
Should Taylor Have Been Nominated?
Regarding her own R&B category snub, Taylor retweeted a bunch of fans who bashed the Grammys for overlooking her 2020 project The Album, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard charts following its Juneteenth release. She later cleared up accusations that she was criticizing the male R&B nominees.
“I’m not blasting the male nominees. So change the misleading caption. I’m blasting the @RecordingAcad for failing ALL the women that has been putting in work. Women are clearly being overlooked here. WOMEN PLAYS A BIG PART IN CARRYING R&B.”
Teyana Taylor’s Biggest Win Of 2020
In better news, Taylor and her NBA-player husband Iman Shumpert welcomed their second child earlier this year, a daughter named Rue Rose.
