We The Best CEO DJ Khaled has shelled out his interest in possibly having a conversation with the NBA’s Miami Heat to become a minority owner.
For Khaled, even owning one percent of the team would mean a lot.
“You’re speaking facts. We got an amazing team. We got D-Wade, Whiteside, we got Luol Deng, we got Joe [Johnson] – it’s just a family. [LeBron James coming back?] Salute the king, I’ve got nothing but love for LeBron James. If he came back to Miami, smartest decision he ever made in his career. But where he’s at, it’s a blessing for him, too. … [Owning the Heat?] Yeah, I would love to talk to the Heat to let me be a owner, even if it’s one percent. But either way, I’m there representing courtside. And if I’m out of town, I’m representing. I bleed Miami. It’s Miami Heat for life. It’s Miami everything.” (TMZ Sports)
Recently, the Miami producer announced a new partnership with Epic Records.
A few weeks ago, Khaled dished on hiring Jay Z to manage him.
“Me and Jay have been friends for a long time and [have] built a relationship throughout the years,” Khaled explained. “We always said we [were] gonna do something together besides making amazing music. So, I called Jigga like, ‘Let’s make history together, let’s make big business, let’s secure the bag together.’ … I consider this a partnership. Two moguls? It’s powerful.” (Complex)
Last month, Khaled talked about possibly delivering new music with Top Dawg Entertainment’s Kendrick Lamar.
“I am talking to Kendrick Lamar about an anthem that I want him on. He’s waiting on me actually. I told him I was tweaking something, ’cause I want to present it where the mic just automatically comes on – me and Kendrick been talking about it. I’ve seen him a few times since I’ve been out here. I’ve been staying in touch with Top Dawg.” (“The Cruz Show”)
