Talib Kweli Says Move Over Jay Z & Kanye West: “He’ll Be Considered One Of The Greats Up There W/ Your 2Pacs & Biggies”

Brooklyn rap veteran Talib Kweli recently reflected on 2013 and explained why he believed Young Money's Drake is clearly the top-tier hip-hop artist right now.

In Kweli’s perspective, Drizzy could eventually find himself amongst the ranks of hip-hop moguls like the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.

“Drake. Drake is killing them. Drake is making honest music. He’s making hit records. He’s got lyrics for the dudes and he’s got subject matter that any human being can relate to, dude or female. He’s just really killing the game. He’s really turned himself into the rapper to check for, and the number one emcee, the top tier emcee. … If he can maintain his relevance for another couple years, he’ll be considered one of the greats up there with your Tupacs and Biggies and Jay Zs and even Kanye Wests. But Drake has [been] doing a great job this year.” (HHDX)

Based on an excerpt from his new VIBE cover feature, Drizzy spoke on Kanye West being his biggest competition.

“He’s, like, the best. What an era to be a part of. I wouldn’t want my competition to be anybody else. My competition is nobody else, by the way. It’s just me and ‘Ye. I still have work to do but that’s what it is right now.” (VIBE)

Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco recently called Mr. West rap’s biggest heavyweight.

“I think Kanye’s the biggest artist in the world,” Lupe added. “I think he’s bigger than Drake, I think he’s bigger than Wayne, I think he’s bigger than Jay. Recently, Kanye dished on Drizzy Drake being atop the hip-hop game.

On His Empire: “It’s Drake season now. I’m the Tupac of product. You’re gonna see I’m better than Ralph Lauren, you’re gonna see that I’m gonna be bigger than H&M, bigger than Louis Vuitton.” And given that he just told fans to boycott the famous French fashion house…he may live up to his word.
