A day after Talib Kweli aired out his issues with Rick Ross condoning rape in a recent song, hip-hop personality dream hampton has questioned his comments and sparked a must-read debate.

hampton struck first at Talib by saying he should have made stronger and more concise arguments in dishing out his problems with Ross.

“I finally watched your appearance on HuffPo Live @TalibKweli the idea that the sexy ladies on Rape Ross’ TL shld love his near 40 y.o. ass + …into clarity that drugging, then raping a woman w/out her knowledge is rape is offensive @TalibKweli You shld’ve come MUCH stronger + Or not at all. I’m willing to love you into that strength though. So, you’re welcome. @TalibKweli”

“Rape culture is real, global and pervasive. Limp reactions to ppl who push rape culture is worse than no action at all.”

“The worst thing you said was if we don’t think Rape Ross is real hip hop, we can’t even speak to him. Fuk him. @TalibKweli”

“We’re talking to Reebok abt Rape Ross. @TalibKweli” (dream hampton’s Twitter)

Kweli immediately responded back and flipped the table on hampton.

“@dreamhampton @DawudWalid let me know when Ross murders a 16yr old. Then talk to me about what I would or wouldn’t say in that situation.”

“@dreamhampton I aint say if u say Ross aint hiphop u cant speak to him. I said if u say he aint hiphop dont expect him 2 listen. getitright”

“@dreamhampton you are allowing your outrage to cloud what you know abt me and its causing you to twist my actual words. Come stronger.” (Talib Kweli’s Twitter)

dream then went at Kweli by saying how upset she was at his appearance on a live debate.

“I’m not outraged. At all. Just disappointed as fuk in your appearance on that show. U used my rewind button. @TalibKweli”

“and i said fuk his 40 year old ass, we’re talking to Reebok @TalibKweli”

“It infantilizes men to try to convince them that drugging then ‘having’ an unconscious woman is rape. I trust that you understand it’s rape.” (dream hampton’s Twitter)

Not willing to stand down, Talib continued to stand behind making his voice public.

“@dreamhampton be disappointed then. Attack the only MC who actually gives enough of a shit to speak publicly about it. Do you.”

“@dreamhampton I’m disappointed that you so concerned abt rattling your saber you don’t care who you cut. Even if its your ally.”

“RT @dreamhampton: since you’re my friend, the friend I spent 9/11 with, we can conclude this conversation offline. (Y even start then?)”

“@dreamhampton I said VERY clear that the lyric was wrong. I also said that solutions start w dialogue, & I’m willing to start it.”

“@dreamhampton you used your twitter to completely twist my words when u said I said we can’t speak to him if we don’t consider him hiphop” (Talib Kweli’s Twitter)

Earlier this week, the New York native took a strong stance against the rape lyrics.

“I don’t care if Rick Ross is 40 years old — he’s a misguided 40-year-old person.” Strong words from Talib Kweli Monday as he addressed the recent controversy over Rick Ross’ rap verse on the song U.O.E.N.O. While Ross seems to have chalked the controversy surrounding his lyrics up to some unspecified “misunderstanding,” many are not buying his explanation. “Rick Ross condoned rape in that song … and he should apologize, and his apology that he offered was unacceptable.” Kweli continued.
