Tip said his number one priority is making money and noted despite spending time behind bars in recent years he is still ranked amongst hip-hop’s elite.

“I ain’t stunin’ nothin’ about no motherf*cking top ten, no motherf*cking hip-hop top ten, whoever on the list got d*mmnit, salute to ya, I don’t give a f*ck about it, I care about my bankroll n*gga and that sh*t growing. That sh*t growing like I added water to it. I’m stretching this sh*t, man and one thing about it, man — I spent two years sitting still. I wasn’t really able to move around because I was in prison. So for me to even be out here, and still in the motherf*cking mix — you gotta judge me according to my circumstances. You compare me to Wayne? Sh*t, man, got d*mn, I was locked up two years straight, this n*gga was out here selling records. You comparing me to Kanye? When I was locked up, he was out here selling records. … I expect them to be on the top ten, go ahead and enjoy it.” (Shade 45)

A few weeks ago, Bad Boy Records rapper French Montana went off on “Hottest MCs” panel.

“I ain’t got no album out,” French said in an interview when asked about initially being on the “Hottest MCs” list and then losing his spot. “That’s what they said. Everybody had albums. It’s not about a check, so, it doesn’t matter. If they do something like that, then they need to have their facts right. They’ll sit there and be like, ‘Pop That’ was number two. You know ‘Pop That’ was number one. ‘Oh French Montana has nothing but features on his songs but Meek Mill doesn’t.’ All right, cool, name my songs. ‘Shot Callers’ was me by myself, ‘Everything’s A Go’ is by myself. Meek is my n*gga, so, if you saying I got features, Meek’s ‘I’ma Boss’ has Ross on it, ‘Amen’ had Drake on it, ‘Burn’ had Big Sean on it. People don’t drop singles dolo no more, for what? ‘House Party’ had Young Chris on it. They don’t have their facts right and they’re talking. It’s their favorite rapper. Talk facts. A lot of people didn’t have a better year than me last year. I was on d*mn near every song.” (Sirius Satellite)

Recently, Miami’s Ace Hood hit up SOHH and said he would rather make Forbes’ lists than MTV’s annual round-up.

“I would definitely want to be on that Forbes list because I’m hot and I’m getting money,” Ace told SOHH when asked if he would rather make a Forbes list versus a “Hottest in the Game” list. “I would rather be on the Forbes list, definitely, reason being just because at the end of the day, I feel like when people create those kinds of lists, they don’t really base it off true lyricism. That’s what I think, personally. I think the lists are a little bias, personally, because if you base it off lyricism, then Ace Hood should be included in that list. Or J. Cole should be included in that list. That’s just my opinion.” (SOHH)

This year’s “Hottest MCs in the Game” list includes hip-hop stars ranging from Meek Mill to Kendrick Lamar.

1. Kendrick Lamar 2. 2 Chainz 3. Rick Ross 4. Nas 5. Drake 6. Big Sean 7. Kanye West 8. A$AP Rocky 9. Future 10. Meek Mill (“Hottest MCs in the Game”)
